We begin with an evening stroll on the rue de Verneuil in Paris… In the window of an art gallery is a picture dating from the 20’s. This canvas, signed by Léon Texier, becomes a beautiful hand-tufted rug with New Zealand wool pile, in which the composition of concentric circles stretches to infinity. This unknown artist has, it seems, been strongly influenced by the work of Sonia and Robert Delaunay, apparent in the movement and contrast of pure colour.
