A series of sharp sawtooth angles, ZHONG evokes both traditional ikate weaving and the classic Hungarian stitch pattern. Very popular in the 17th century, this technique is combined here in a contemporary way with a traditional Nepalese hand-knot.

Maoming

At Pierre Frey, the inspiration for a collection often originates from an encounter. In 2010, Patrick Frey and his team crossed the path of an individual who had explored South East Asia on foot. All along his travels, this passionate adventurer had collected textiles as an illustration of the ancestral artistry of often overlooked ethinicities. It is through this encounter that the team discovered the MIAO people, living in the Guizhou province of China, shielded by the moon mountains. The Maoming collection is an invitation to discover the mysterious power of the Miao art, based on the crafting of indigo and a diversity of colors. Geometric patterns and tie-dye effects in bright, shot silk colors evoke the talent and know-how of the Miao women.
