Episode 3 #GuestTalents : LIGNE DOLMEN by Constance Guisset

" I don't have a favorite material or piece of furniture, but I do attach great importance to the surprise effect."

Who is Constance Guisset? What did she design for Pierre Frey?

Specialized in design, interior architecture and scenography, Constance Guisset tirelessly seeks a balance between the embodiment of movement, delicacy and imagination while defending a demand for quality, comfort and the welcoming of bodies and their gestures.
For her first furniture collection with Pierre Frey, she was inspired by geology and Icelandic basaltic organs by proposing a modular set designed as landscapes: large islands of seats with generous shapes that can evolve over time by adapting to the space and needs of each moment.

Designer's words

Why did you choose Maison Pierre Frey to create this collection?

I have often used Pierre Frey fabrics for my various projects, but this is the first time I have worked with them to create a furniture line.
The multiplicity of modules in the Dolmen line that I imagined echoes the multiplicity of fabric collections. I thought that the marvelous richness of Pierre Frey's catalog would allow for amazing associations of materials and colors.

How would you describe your style?

It is always difficult to define one's own work. I believe that one finds in my objects certain themes that fascinate me: movement, lightness, play, illusion. However, the link between all the pieces remains the demand for hospitality and comfort for the body as well as for the mind.

What is your favorite material and piece of furniture to work with?

I don't have a favorite material or piece of furniture, but I do attach great importance to the surprise effect, which can be embodied both in objects and in space.

Why did you choose 4 different fabrics? What is your favorite color?

I am very fond of blue but in this new collaboration, I wanted to celebrate the marriage of infinite possibilities in both textures and colors. The plain piping is the only link and common point to all models. The object also works very well in monochrome and that's the interest of this line, everyone will interpret it in his own way and make his model unique!

Do you envisage a continuation of this Dolmen collection? What other pieces could   possibly complete this collection?

This collection offers a multitude of variations to imagine, to adapt the object according to the space, a desire or a period of life. New functions could take place in the interstices of the sofas, by integrating electricity, lamps, and luminous touches. The whole point of the Dolmen line is that it is not set in stone, offers many alternatives and a great deal of freedom to evolve.
