With its verdant texture, the PRAIRIE rug is an adaptation of a printed fabric released by Pierre Frey in 1955, based on a design by R. Rosselli. This hand-tufted rug, made from New Zealand wool, features a skilfull blend of textures and different pile heights.
PRAIRIE magnificently echoes a practice of the Second Empire, which consisted of putting this type of carpet (reproducing grass) in winter gardens:
‘We walked on moss-like carpets between two thick clumps of shrubs.'
Guy de Maupassant in Bel-Ami
A magnificent drawing illustrating an enchanted forest where oaks, groves and roses in blossom come together in a dreamlike landscape. This wide width print was inspired by a gouache on paper from the 19th century, preserved in the Maison's heritage collection, and already evokes a taste for greenery.
FORESTIERE is a design by Rachel Altabas, using felt-tip pens to bring together a collection of fantastic mushrooms. The bright, cheerful colours, printed on sisal laminated on non-woven backing, bring the wall to life.
HEDERA
A stylised ivy pattern covering the wall of vegetation. This timeless yet singular design is taken from a map dating from the 1950s, kept in the Maison's heritage collection. HEDERA is printed on a woven textile and laminated to a non-woven backing.
Printed on sisal laminated on non-woven backing, this hand-painted motif punctuates the wall of currant bushes in fruit. It was inspired by a design by Germaine Midy which she created for the Maison in the 1950s.
.
A heavenly evocation of the shores of the Bahamas and its lush gardens printed on linen laminated on non-woven backing. The soft, cheerful colours of NASSAU make it a timeless, vibrant design. This pattern is borrowed from a vintage archive dating back to the 1960s, part of the Boussac heritage collection.
DAPHNE
Like a plunge into the gardens of the South of France, this design from the Maison's archives, dating from the 1940s, graphically illustrates large laurel leaves in ink. DAPHNE is printed on sisal laminated on non-woven backing for a warm, authentic look. Also available as fabric under reference F3894 DAPHNE.
The CONTEMPLATION rug is a majestic composition freely inspired by a painting from the first half of the 20th century, preserved in the Archives department, depicting the circle of the muses. Kathmandu Valley in Nepal is home to the traditional hand-knot craftsmanship, which produces extremely fine details and enhances the studio's palette of autumnal and expressionistic colors.
BOTANIQUE
A vegetal pattern of ferns dancing in the wind, BOTANIQUE is adapted from a design by Germaine Midy for Pierre Frey dating from 1955 and held in the company's archives. It was very popular with American customers at the time.
The Pierre Frey studio has transformed this design, originally conceived for textile printing, into a high-performance In-Outdoor fabric that is lightfast and stain-resistant, as well as wallpaper embroidered on straw. Thanks to the use of contemporary techniques, these products are adapted to today's modern and practical uses.
