In the very heart of the Château de Versailles property and built in 1681 by Louis XIV's architect, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the Grand Contrôle hotel is reborn two centuries later after a meticulous restoration. To imagine this unique hotel while preserving the soul of the building, the architect of the Historical Monuments, Pierre Bortolussi and Christophe Tollemer, interior designer, combine their talents to give life to this place that once welcomed artists, writers, scientists of the Enlightenment but also the European political and cultural elite.

Fabrics

Recognized for their exceptional know-how, Pierre Frey’s collections of fabrics are found throughout the hotel’s rooms and suites, honorably sourced from the House’s archives and admirably transcribed, giving each room a distinct identity. Offering a unique journey through time, Le Grand Contrôle brings history and the French art of living to life in a cozy and intimate atmosphere.
