Graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Gaël Davrinche’s personality, his paw and his relationship with painting, of which he speaks with a capital “P”, form the outlines of a universe full of audacity and freedom that Pierre Frey studio looks for. Like a game, Gaël Davrinche’s creation suggests that painting takes precedence over the subject that cannot be played. “It’s a bit like playing chess, says the artist. As soon as a part is placed, the strategy is engaged, the image evolves”. For him, it is not the subject that is important but the painting, his way of approaching it and the art of mastering the balance between the two.
