This fabric is a two-colour silk base woven interpretation of a printed document entitled the 4 parts of the world drawn by Jean-Baptiste Huet and representing the different continents. The artist had chosen to depict these continents through various representative symbols between characters and animals. In this way we can see the theme of Abundance associated with the horse and fowls representing Europe, prietesses burning incense near a dromedary and various birds to show Asia, a feminine figurine surrounded by children playing with a lion, an elephant and an ostrich to symbolise Africa. And an Indian chief crowned with feathers chasing an alligator for America.
